The Culture is a wiki devoted to expanding our collective understanding of the people around us; just outside, on the fringe of, or imbedded within our own interaction spheres.  It was developed initially as a means to help those in health care learn more about the many diverse people who need help with their health. It is intended as a dynamic resource that encourages people from within a cullture to provide insight into what is important to them when they are at their most vulnerable and dependant on people who may not be aware of their fears, their priorities, their belief systems, their hierarchies.  Even this initial statement is open to evolution as we work together to dispel myths, teach each other and strive to attain the paramount goal of health care-good health.  This wiki is exploiting an existing, dormant stub, and was first expanded on 6/5/2015 by residents at the Union Hospital Family Medicine Residency in Terre Haute Indiana.  All are welcome to contribute, to create new headings, to modify others as they see fit.  The only caveat of interaction is that foul language be avoided, in any language.  Even inflammatory statements will be allowed as points of conversation and should be approached as opportunities to expand understanding.  I would also encourage subheadings that are language specific, as there are many in health care that would like to learn language skills. There are no rules otherwise, though suggestions can be made if problems arise.

Economy

Cultural sensitivity has long been recognized as an asset by those who seek excellence in business.  Such awareness enables people of rich traditions to interact productively, and has been business 101 since the first sea shell gatherer traded for copper from the mountains 3000 miles away, and lived to tell about it.  Feel free to opine on circumstances that you have navigated well or even poorly, so that others can chime in with suggestions or insights from within the involved cultures.[1]

The abundance of resources and the efficient allocation by machines of those resources resulted in a transcendence which left behind the entire concept of money or other means of exchange, essentially a system of rationing.[1]

The facilitating technology was developed after the formation of the Culture. In the interim interstellar trade was still viable.[2]
