The Culture

The Culture was a major Involved polity in the Milky Way. Its relied heavily on Minds for direction and infrastructure maintenance, and had an interventionist foreign policy.

Economy

The available technology eliminated concerns of resource scarcity. Energy was readily available from stars or the Grid. Matter was abundant from stellar bodies. Orbitals were a mass-efficient way of providing extravagant living space.

The abundance of resources and the efficient allocation by machines of those resources resulted in a transcendence which left behind the entire concept of money or other means of exchange, essentially a system of rationing.

The facilitating technology was developed after the formation of the Culture. In the interim interstellar trade was still viable.

Society

The Culture has no formal laws.
