Culture citizens could opt for drug glands in their lower skull that could be secreted at will, changing mood and perception. The glands could secrete mixtures of three hundred different compounds, and the drugs were named for the effects they caused:
- Snap - Provided alertness and was often used in the morning after waking
- Expand

- Slow - Changed perception such that things seemed to be moving in slow motion
- Calm
- Softnow - Provided calmness
- Diffuse
- Recall - Memory enhancer
