A Disposable is a Culture citizen who engages in sports, particularly extreme sports, without any sort of backup of their Mind-state. As a result, they risk permanent death without the ability to be revived (or at least to have their consciousness implanted in another version of themselves).[1]
The Disposables have proudly taken on this name, even though it may considered derogatory in other contexts or if others were to impose the name on them unilaterally.[1]

Feli Vitrouv is a Disposable. In addition, about half of the people engaging in a session of wing-flying were also Disposables.[1]
